Makin' It Monday- Play Travel Barn

My niece is in to My Little Ponies right now.  Well she was earlier this year...she may have moved on to a new toy faze...that happens so quick sometimes.

Anyway, I saw this cute little tutorial for a take-a-long doll house or barn at UK Lass in US.  I thought this would be the cutest little gift for my niece to take her My Little Ponies with her...and hopefully not loose all the stuff that goes with them.  Not to mention she has a baby sister that doesn't need to eat any small parts to said toys.

Here is the barn I made.

I love the button closures!
The stalls are ready and waiting for some cute little ponies to come play!

Saturday my Mom and I went to a neighborhood yard sale.  Fortunately my hubby and the kiddos manned the yard sale we had out our house!  It is GREAT to have gotten rid of a bunch of stuff we didn't use anymore!  Then we celebrated my grandfather's birthday with my family!

Tuesday I took Mr. E to school and then came home and woke up the hubby so we could go to the gym.  Miss C didn't have a good time at the gym, she wouldn't stop crying so we had to leave early.  Later that day we went to the grocery to pick up a few things.

Makin' It Monday- Custom Barn Yard Blocks

I saw a tutorial a while back at Making the World Cuter.  The tutorial was for a cute set of animal blocks that she made using some really cool stickers.

Well shortly after seeing this tutorial I saw some cute barn yard stickers at Hobby Lobby for half off...I couldn't resist myself.  So, I bought a package and turned them into these cute little blocks.

When I found out a friend of mine that is expecting a baby in November was decorating the nursery in a barn yard motif, I knew she needed these blocks!!

Here are the little mice hiding on the back of two of the blocks...sneaky little buggers.
I think they turned out to be really cute...and pretty in expensive.  I just used some scrap wood to make the blocks.

Go check out the tutorial and make your own set of custom blocks!!

Frugal Find!!

Well, last week we had our semiannual consignment sale in my area.  I LOVE going and shopping.  I have found tons off cool clothes for my kiddos, and some toys and accessories too.

This year one of my sons favorite things is the winter coat from Gymboree.

He wants to wear it all the time.  The other day we had  a couple of errands to run and Mr. E insisted on wearing his coat. I told him he could wear it in the car, but when we went into stores he had to take it off.  Did I mention that it is still 80 plus degrees outside in our area?  Yeah...it is still pretty warm here.

So, we got to our first store and Mr. E was stuck in his jacket...he was sweating and I had to pull the jacket off.  He was okay not wearing it the rest of the day.

Anyway, I don't think that I will be having any trouble getting him to wear his coat this winter!

Happy Frugal Shopping!!

Things to Try Thursday-Quilted Camera Case

When I took my road trip to Wisconsin a couple of weeks I took my camera to document some of my trip.  We have a big camera bag that holds our video camera and our point and shoot camera.  I wanted something smaller to carry around while I was on vacation.

I searched the internet...and found THIS great camera bag tutorial at Amy a la Mode

This was my first attempt at quilting anything.  It was really quite easy and fun!!  The directions with the tutorial were very easy to follow, which made making the bag go faster.

Here is my finished bag.

If you need a camera bag for yourself or for a gift, this is definitely one to try!!

What I Wore

Well things are starting to get into a groove again around here...whew.  We have been really busy this past week, but this week is looking better.

I forgot to take several pics this week, but her is what I wore.  Well what I wore part of the week!

Friday we went to my niece's 7th birthday party!  It was quite the shindig with a multitude of family on both sides in attendance.  I know my kiddos had a blast, and I think the birthday girl did too!

Monday was a school day as well as a day to go grocery shopping.  Oh what fun!!

Tuesday I went to the gym after dropping Mr. E off at school.  Later the kiddos and I took a brief trip to H.H. Gregg.  Our new washing machine of 2 months is leaking a massive amount of water.  So we went to tattle tale on the washer and see what we need to do about getting it fixed or replaced.  I have a number to call to figure something out.  Oh, and did I mention that we bought this machine b/c our old washer was leaking a ton of water...and it sounded like a jet engine was in my laundry room while clothes were going through the spin cycle.  I sure hope I am not destined to wash all of our clothes by hand...if so I think the kids will be getting a lot of baths...with all their clothes on!!

Makin' It Monday- My Mom's Birthday Present

My mom's birthday isn't until November but I found the perfect gift a while back.

I found a pretty green sweater a couple of months ago, but it has 3/4 length sleeves.  Not exactly appropriate for the winter months in Kentucky.  So I embelished the sweater and a pair of flip flops for her birthday.  My mom LOVES the pretty sea green color that has become popular in the past couple of years.  She also loves this green with navy.

I found some navy roses at Hobby Lobby and a pair of navy flip flops at Walmart.  I deconstructed the flowers, I bought two roses to ensure I had enough petals.  I took an old shirt that was the same green color and made twisted roses out of them.  Next, I glued some of the rose petals to the flower rose.  I glued two of the flower/petal combos to the the flip flops.  TIP:  I found that it is best to scour the tops of the flip flops where you plan on gluing the flowers.  These flip flops have smooth straps and the hot glue doesn't hold well.

I also made a bigger flower/petal that I glued to a pin back.  Then, I attached the pin to the shirt to make a pretty combo of shoes and sweater.

I gave this to my Mom early and I hope she gets some good fall wear out of them!!

Happy Early Birthday Mom
