Turtle Pretzels

The other day I was hungry.  Hungry for something sweet that is.  So I started rummaging through the cabinets and came across a bag of pretzels, a bag of Hershey Kisses, and a container of Cashews.

Hum, what can I make out of that...well Turtle Pretzels (kinda, there isn't any caramel in these things).

You want to start off by lining a baking sheet with wax paper/parchment paper.  This makes for easy clean up.  I am all about not having to wash another dish.  Go ahead and turn that oven on to 350 to get it all warm and tosty.

Then lay your pretzels on your cookie sheet. 

Next unwrap your Kisses.  This process would have been much faster for me if I had an extra set of hands to help me out.  But, I didn't think dirt would go well with my sweet treat.

Now, pop those babies in the oven for a couple of minutes.  Just long enough for the Kisses to melt a little bit.

Finally, top each pretzel/Kiss with a cashew.

Enjoy!!  I found these to be a good combo of sweet and salty, and just small enough for me to eat a bunch with out realizing!!

Magnetic Board Tutorial

Now that we have two kids I find myself running out of space on the refrigerator. We have already lost two pieces of the magnetic barnyard to the unknown depth under the fridge.

My solution to my space issue is to make Missy Priss a magnetic board to hand off her changing table. This will allow her to have her learning magnets in her room where I can easily reach them if she decides throw them under something.
Supplies Needed:

Large Glass picture frame

Magnetic Spray Paint

Ribbon

Color Spray Paint (optional)

Mod Podge and sponge (optional)

Scrapbook paper (optional)



Step One:

Spray your magnetic surface. I sprayed my paint directly on the glass. I followed the instructions on the can. After 3 coats of paint and the magnets still weren’t sticking, I decided to spray my coats on a little thicker. I used almost the entire can of spray paint on my glass.
Step Two:

Decorate…

If you want to use an additional color of spray paint, then after the magnetic paint dries…go to it.

If you want to add some pretty paper, then take your Mod Podge and sponge and apply to the back of your paper. Stick the paper to the board and then add another coat of Mod Podge. I am sure this will affect how magnetic your board is, so you may want to do this is small sections as cute decorations…i.e. flower, butterfly, car, truck, whatever you desire.

Step Three:

After everything is dry and looks perfect, or as close as you can get in my case, put the glass back in to the frame.

Step Four:

Hang your board.

I used some ribbon that matches Missy Priss’s room and attached it to the back of the frame. Then I tied the ribbon to the side of her changing table/ dresser.

Step Five:

Attach magnets and have FUN!!!

Shine Up Those Shoes

Okay, if you are like me, you buy kids shoes used or pass them down. I just received 5 pairs of hand-me-downs from my sister-in-law (Mother of 3 beautiful girls). 3 of the pairs are white shoes. I decided to shine them up a little the other day with a mixture of baking soda and water. I mixed baking soda with a little water to form a paste. I then used an old ( or if you are mad at your husband at the time, his..ha ha)toothbrush to brush the paste on the shoes. Once I was done a took a damp cloth and washed off what was left of my baking soda paste. The shoes were almost good as new. Let's face it, white shoes never look the same after a couple days worth of wear. Anyway, I also did this to a pair of leather shoes Missy Priss has out grown.

Under the Weather

Well, I know I haven't been around for a little while. This past week was a little crazy around here. I subbed two days last week and then......I got sick!! It was horible, I haven't felt this bad in years. I went to a Quick Care Clinic on Wednesday and got some lovely meds. The nice Nurse Practitioner gave me two perscriptions...and a 3rd, just in case I had the flu. Thankfully I didn't. So I have been a little out of it.

This weekend I was feeling better and the kiddos, hubby, and I had some good quality time with my hubby's family. We had a great Easter!!! We went to church and had a great service, then the kiddos got to have an Easter Egg hunt. Missy Priss won a prize for finding the least amount of eggs...3. It was close one other little girl found 4 eggs. Then we came home and took naps so we would be ready for supper with the family.

All in all we had a great time and we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather!!
